Kootenai County Sheriff Volunteer Search and Rescue team, KCSO VSAR, has a number of specialty teams which not only provide valuable resources for the team but which also provide a forum for interested members to advance their skills in a particular area of SAR.
All members of specialty teams must first maintain an active status with KCSO VSAR and be proficient in all basic SAR skills.
Some specialty teams have additional experience and skill pre-requisites. The specialty teams undergo additional training in their particular discipline, outside of the regular team trainings. KCSO VSAR members may participate in multiple specialty teams, providing they can meet the time commitments necessary for active participation. Participation in at least one specialty teams is required for KCSO VSAR membership. Currently, KCSO VSAR has nine specialty teams. New specialty teams may be established, depending on members’ interest.
